Its simply the story of a vampire and a boy. What so not simple is that the boy can see the ‘lines and dots’ that if traced will kill the thing, and apparently he cant remember 10 years of his life. The vampire, a girl, and is the ‘original’ vampire or a ‘true ancestor’ of vampires and is actually afraid to drink blood. Simply put, the boy kills the vampire for no reason and the resurrected vampire starts to love him (or does she?). Anyway, there are three perspectives of life here, a normal boy, an immortal vampire, and a ‘Claire Bennett’ exorcist.

Vampire: What do you learn here Shiki?
Boy: We study history, remember arithmetic formulas and elements of the period table, and we learn languages of this country and other languages. So a lot of stuff
Vampire: What for? Is all this useful?
Boy: Well, I don’t know…
Vampire: Your time is rather limited so you shouldn’t waste it like that. I don’t understand why you waste your time with this superfluous stuff.
(WHY STUDY WHEN YOU CAN FILL YOUR LIFE WITH BETTER THINGS TO DO? WHO KNOWS IF YOU CAN EVEN LIVE TO 18)

Vampire: I don’t drink human blood
Boy: Why?
Vampire: If fish and birds have the same intelligence level as you, would you still eat it? Would you still eat it as a meal without feeling regret?(WOULD YOU!!!)
Well it may not sound funny in real words, but if you summarize them
You should’nt study hard in school cuz you have a short life. Just live a youthful school live. You wont use what you learn anyway!

I don’t drink blood cuz humans are smart like me…I think. I eat burgers cuz minced chicken meat obviously don’t have feelings.
